What is your first impression of Willow? What might you have thought of her if you'd had her as a classmate?

My first impression of Willow is a shy genius who does not have many friends. This sounds like a great ability to me, which I don't have, but she is not proud of. To her, it's the default that makes her different from the world. If I had Willow Chance as a classmate, I would be amazed and fascinated about what she could do. Frankly, I don't know why nobody is her friend. If I ever saw her in my classroom, I would be her friend on the first day! I think this is an amazing, fantastic, and fascinating journey. THIS AUTHOR IS AMAZING! CAN SHE GET A BOOK AWARD AND APPLAUSE??!!!

*Claps for Author* Even though she is very smart and she got a hundred on (i think) her first day, "popular" or regular kids wouldn't want to talk topp her. In their eyes, she is a shy nerd who is new to school and is a genius. Ofcourse, i would want to be her friend too, but she could be scared of people she has never seen before in a place she has never ben to before. Don't you think? I would like to lend her a hand, and allow her to feel like she is welcome to the school. But, again, she could be scared. However, Willow is proud of her smartness (not much after her parents' death) and i would love to be her friend. Who wouldn't?

At first, I wouldn't think that Willow is shy because she told her teacher how she didn't like the book they were reading in class. I would think that since she was gifted, she wouldn't think much of what other people have to say about things. I feel that I would get along with her because we are alike in some ways. I have a journal I made about plants and I like diagnosing sicknesses too.

My first impression of Willow is a timid, but gifted genius. She doesn't talk much and has no friends. She doesn't care if she has no friends because she knows that she has herself to depend on. If Willow was my classmate I would try to become friends with her on the first day of school. I wouldn't use her like other people would. People would use her gift and take advantage of her, but not me. I would befriend he because I believe that she is a strong, kind and wonderful peson!

The students in her class already know how gifted she is, remeber? When she took her test or did a worksheet, everyone stared at her because she got a 100%. Obviously, that percentage says something. And i wouldn't say she is differently dressed because i am pretty sure everyone else is wearing something of their choice. She wore what she wanted because she noticed how a huge percentage of students or teenagers wear such tight and uncomfortable sclothes just to look good and create a good impression.

In the exposition of the book I think Willow is a lonely, shy girl. She would probably have more friends if she didn't spend all of her free time in the garden or diagnosing her plants. If I was one of Willow's classmates I would think she is very strange. Even though Willow is very nice and smart when you get to know her, I believe we would have nothing in common and probably wouldn't talk.

I agree with her being timid, however I don't think she is not content with the situation. For example, when she noticed the taxi driver's skin disease, she isn't afraid to tell him. Even though she wrote it down instead of opened her mouth, it still shows that she feels a need to share what's on her mind. To conclude, I believe that Willow is indeed timid, but wants to speak up but is unable to escape the thoughts in her head saying not to.

If I had Willow as a classmate, I would perceive her as timid and shy until she gets comfortable with her surroundings. For example, she isn't shy around Jairo, Pattie and Mai. However, because Quang-ha doesn't open up to Willow until later on, it takes her longer to get close with him. Also, Dell Duke and Willow have a strong connection from the start because Willow believes that she can help him, and he can help her. This is beneficial to both of them.

My first impression of Willow was that she is a shy girl that is willing to speak her mind. She is incredibly gifted, but still manages to be humble. I relate to her in a way that I don't make friends easily. If I was in her class, I would most likely admire her for her achievements, and maybe say hello, but I probably wouldn't go much further than that. When I first started reading Counting by 7's, the main character Willow Chance was an outsider, she was lonely, intelligent, and socially awkward. Willow displays these characteristics by demonstrating them thought the book. Because Willow is socially awkward and doesn't talk to anyone she comes across as lonely; However, she is not just lonely and socially awkward she is also very intelligent. For example she finish one of the hardest tests in 17 minutes and got a 100.This surprised the principle and the other teachers, they thought she cheated because of the outstanding grade. Over all my first thought of Willow Chance was lonely, awkward, and intelligent.

Willow is most likely not shy, but she just doesn't interact with many people because she doesn't understand how to fit in while still being able to act like herself, And Willow isn't afraid to point out something and say her opinion about it, so that really doesn't show she's shy at all. Willow feels like she doesn't have to change her personality, outfit, and the things she likes just to fit in, and some people most likely don't talk to her for this reason. If Willow was in my class, there might be a chance I would become her friend, but I would most likely not talk to her much.
